Coronavirus cases among quarantine hotel staff in Perth and Melbourne have triggered restrictions and mass testing on both sides of the country.

WA has recorded its fourth straight day of zero new locally-acquired cases, keeping Perth and the South West on track for an end to lockdown at 6pm tomorrow. However, Premier Mark McGowan warned any potential easing of restrictions “won’t be as much as people might want”.

The news comes after Perth and surrounds were sent into a snap five-day lockdown when a hotel security guard caught COVID-19.

Victoria has also announced it has recorded no new local cases overnight after Premier Dan Andrews’ bombshell late night announcement a Melbourne hotel quarantine employee also tested positive.
