The Busselton Health Campus marked a milestone in 2020 when it delivered its first Christmas baby, five years after its renovation.

Cowaramup couple Kerri and Allan Coremans welcomed their second child, a boy named Winston, around 7.40am on Christmas Day. Mrs Coremans, who works as a nurse at the health campus, said it was great to give birth with her friends and colleagues nearby to support her.

“When my water broke and we were on the way to the hospital, I was excited to see who was going to be there,” she said.

But Winston wasn’t the only Christmas baby born during the festive season, with girl Ayla Christmas born to a Perth couple around midnight just one day earlier.

Dad Ben Christmas used to be an orderly at the health campus and made the decision with wife Cheradahn Willoughby to travel to Busselton for the birth. Ms Willoughby said although it was funny to have their “Christmas” baby during the festive season, it was a coincidence.
