A police officer was rushed to hospital and a teenage boy taken into custody after a patrol car rolled when it collided with an allegedly stolen vehicle in Fitzroy Crossing in the early hours of yesterday.

Derby detectives are today investigating the incident in which it will be alleged that a Toyota Landcruiser stolen from a business in Fitzroy Crossing hit the patrol car about 4.15am.

The crash happened on an unsealed road at the western end of the Fitzroy Crossing bridge.

A male officer was flown to Broome Hospital. Police said that he was in a stable condition and in good spirits.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged in relation to the crash, as well as multiple burglary and motor vehicle theft offences.
