Jumper a potential lead in assault investigation in Derby

Staff reportersBroome Advertiser

Derby Detectives investigating a serious assault against an elderly man are calling on the public for information relating to an item of clothing the offender might have been wearing at the time of the incident.

About 10:30pm on June 3, a man aged in his 70’s was at his Kunamarra Street home when he answered a knock on his door.

Police allege a male was standing at the door and forced his way inside, pushing the victim and striking him while demanding for his car keys.

It was understood the assault continued until the victim handed over his keys and the man left, stealing the victim’s white Toyota Hilux which was later located abandoned in the Derby marsh area.

Detectives believe the offender wore clothing similar to the jacket pictured and might have been discarded in a bin or bushland following the incident.
