Travellers are rushing to snap up half-price Kimberley holiday experiences following the launch of the State Government’s voucher scheme earlier this month.
The new voucher scheme, which slashes 50 per cent off more than 150 tours across the region, is already having an impact since its launch on July 6, according to Broome Visitor Centre general manager Mel Virgo.
“We’ve been inundated with calls, which is fantastic, and we’re starting to see the bookings come through now,” she said.
“It’s been a great initiative not only for our members but for our retailers and Broome in general because it’s attracting extra tourists into town.”
The vouchers, which are expected to generate more than $1 million in tourism bookings, can be used from July 13 to October 31 and offer discounts on a range of top tier tourism experiences from scenic helicopter flights and river cruises to Aboriginal cultural activities.
Ms Virgo encouraged tourists to take advantage while they can.
“Especially with the Broome flights specials, it’s a great opportunity to get to Broome, get out of the winter, and enjoy some sunshine up here,” she said.
“There are hundreds of opportunities and tours to take and experience Broome. We’re open, we’re ready and we’re here for you.”
Kununurra Visitor Centre chief executive Vivienne McEvoy also encouraged visitors to make the most of the vouchers while they last.
“There’s lots of options. There are cruises, flights, walks, day tours, dinners and all sort of things that the vouchers can be spent on,” she said.
“We encourage them to reach out to both Broome and Kununurra visitor centres. We are here to help our visitors to get the best experience while they’re in the region.”
The scheme delivered in partnership with Australia’s North West through the Broome and Kununurra visitor centres is supporting more than 100 operators who deliver more than 150 tours and experiences across the region.
