Help give back

The Margaret River and Districts Historical Society is on the hunt for new members.

Residents interested in local history, joining a social group, or helping out at the historical society’s Old Settlement base are invited along for a cuppa and a chat on Sunday.

Lucky attendees might also score some scones with jam and cream if arriving early on the day, which starts from 10am and runs until 3pm.

Volunteers would be on hand to show interested people around the site and talk more about what being part of the society is about.

Society secretary Shelley Wightman said most volunteers did about three hours a week and the site had limited opening hours.

“People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons,” she said.

“For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or just the chance to meet new people.”

“Whatever your reason, we desperately need your assistance in keeping the history of the Margaret River Old Settlement active.”
