Yuck Circus brings their new high flying show ‘Deadset’ to Albany
Yuck Circus is bringing their new high-flying circus comedy to the Albany Entertainment Centre this weekend.
The larrikin West Australian company is travelling 5000km across the State, from Broome, York and Narrogin, to Albany, bringing high-flying acrobatics and iconic Australian comedy.
Since winning the 2019 Fringe World top-tier Martin Sims award and Adelaide Fringe Best Emerging Artist, YUCK Circus has been touring nationally and Internationally, picking up dozens of awards and thrilling thousands along the way.
Broome-based YUCK director Georgia Deguara said touring the State was something she held close to her heart.
“YUCK comes from regional, remote and isolated towns from all corners of Australia and is passionate about sharing our work and strengthening communities,” she said.
“We want to meet locals, we want to affect towns, and we want to be your mates.”
Deguara said growing up in Broome there wasn’t much to do apart from joining the community circus.
It was this opportunity that has led her to a pathway in the arts, to now direct this in-demand company.
“Our careers have been founded in experiences like these, and it’s our company goal to keep that wheel turning,” she said.
Along with their performance on Sunday night, Yuck will be running an intermediate to advanced circus workshop.
YUCK Circus: Deadset will be at Albany Entertainment Centre on Sunday, April 2 at 7.30pm.
