Talented young Albany tennis player Abbi Gibson has wrapped up a busy period by winning titles at the Brixton/Kalamunda Tennis Summer Junior Open and the Nedlands AMT and Junior Classic.

Gibson, who recently played in the major national junior event the December Showdown, won the 14-and-under girls’ singles title at the Nedlands Australian ranking event.

She defeated number two seed Ksenija Vujacic, 6-3 6-2 in comfortable fashion in the final on Sunday.

To make the final, Gibson had beaten No.1 seed Jessie Culley and No.6 seed Chloe Williams.

Earlier in the month at the Brixton/Kalamunda Tennis Summer Junior Open, Gibson downed top seed Taylah Preston to win the 12-and-under girls’ singles final, 6-0 6-4.

At the Perth Open, also played this month, the 12-year-old reached the quarterfinals of the 14-and-under girls’ singles.

Up against No.1 seed Jessie Culley, Gibson lost 6-0 6-2 to be knocked out.
