Wild West late model round and Southern Sedan Showdown part of huge Albany speedway two-night show

Albany will play host to a huge sedan show at Attwell Park Speedway over two nights this weekend. The final round of the Southern Sedan Showdown for production sedans, street stocks and junior sedans will be run in conjunction with round three and four of the Wild West Showdown for late models. Action will be on Friday and Saturday night and feature some of WA’s best sedan drivers, along with two competitors from the Eastern States. Katanning-bred late model star Kye Blight will be one of fancies in the field along with Brent Vosbergen, Warren Oldfield, Joe Chalmers and Kodee Brown. South Australian Matt Crimmins and Tasmanian Brad Smith will also be in the late model field. Terrific fields will be assembled for the Southern Sedan Showdown as well, as series champions are decided in all three divisions. State champion Kyle Sayer and Albany star Aydan Trewern head the production sedan field, while leading street stock drivers Mick Hamon, Damon Thomson and David Fall are entered. Jamie Oldfield and Brent Vosbergen are at the top of the Wild West Showdown standings with 216 points, while Warren Oldfield is third with 206. Vosbergen comes into the event on the back of a victory at the Perth Motorplex in the second round on Monday, defeating Chalmers and Veronica McCann. Trewern leads the production standings with 424 points from Sayer on 388 points going into the decider. Hamon is clearly on top in the street stock points, holding a 247-point advantage over Thomson, while David Fall, Cody Avins and Jake Williams round out the top five. In the junior sedans, Jake Leaman leads with 417 from Baxter Trouchet (409) and Jaxon Buszan (312). There are a host of Great Southern youngsters nominated in the junior sedans. Formula 125s will be the support division on Friday night and modified sedans will be part of the program on Saturday night. Gates open at 2.30pm and racing starts at 5pm on both nights with bar and canteen facilities available. Spectators can present their night one ticket on Saturday to receive a $5 discount on entry on night two.
