Albany shivered through its coldest night for 2019 over the weekend, when the mercury dipped below six degrees Celsius.

The temperature at Albany Airport dropped to 5.4°C at 12am on April 6 – with the Bureau of Meteorology claiming it would have felt about 2°C for anybody in the area.

That smashed last April’s lowest minimum by more than three degrees.

The last time the temperature dipped lower than on Saturday night was last December, when it dropped to 4.8°C.

Temperatures are likely to continue to drop over the coming months as the southern hemisphere moves from autumn and into winter.

Albany’s 2018 record low was 1.1°C, set in June.

The forecast for this week suggests temperatures could rise 22°C on Tuesday before peaking at 27°C on Wednesday, with showers possible through to Sunday.
