Wayne Lock: Farm labourer fined $1200 and loses licence for 6 months after driving 50km/h over the speed limit

An Albany farm labourer has been convicted of reckless driving after he was clocked doing 130km/h in an 80km/h zone. Wayne Anthony Lock, 55, faced Albany Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with reckless driving by exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h. Police prosecutor Sgt Michael Russell told the court Lock was captured by police radar driving at an excessive speed on the night of May 24 in King River. Magistrate Dianne Scaddan said speeding was too habitual for country drivers. “The prevalence of speeding in the country is significant and a deterrent must be applicable,” she said. “You knew you were going too fast.” Lock was fined $1200 and his licence was disqualified for six months.
