Warm start to winter but wet coming

The first two days of winter in Albany have been unusually warm, with temperatures in the low twenties above the June average.

Thursday’s maximum of 22.5 degrees Celsius was just two degrees off the hottest June day in recorded history of 24.8 in 1984.

On Friday, the mercury had hit 21.1 at 1pm.

The median maximum temperature in June at Albany airport is 16.7.

However, over the long weekend light showers of zero to one millimetres is forecast, with temperatures around 19.
