Manypeaks young gun Charlie Walters capped off a terrific 2019-2020 Albany and Districts Cricket Association by taking home three awards for the under-17s competition including the prestigious Joe Menegola Award.

Walters joins a host of decorated players on the prestigious trophy after captaining Manypeaks to six wins, claiming both the bowling aggregate and average trophies.

The young all-rounder claimed 15 wickets at an average of 6.67, including the incredible figures of 6-0 off 2.4 overs.

Walters scored 209 runs at an average of 34.83 to be the competition’s third highest run scorer and was recognised as the brightest under-17 talent that includes representative cricket during the season. He said the award meant a lot to him.

“I’m honoured to win this award, it’s pretty special looking at some of the previous winners and having my name on there,” Walters said.

“I just want to keep working hard and try and secure a place in A-grade next year and play as high of level as I can.

“I have been playing since Year 4 so I have to thank all my coaches along the way.”

Walters’ teammate Jack Stephens walked away with the champion player award for the under-17s after making 352 runs and taking nine wickets.

At the top of the order Stephens averaged 88 to win the batting aggregate and average awards after a breakout season and also had a bowling average of 13.22.

The club’s most valuable players were Stephens (Manypeaks), Ryley Valli (Royals), Oliver Pluckhahn (Collingwood Park), Mohit Jaggi (Railways) and Noah Middleton (Mt Barker).

Denmark youngster Pluckhahn took home the substitution champion player award.

Under-14s announced their 2019-20 ADCA award winners with Kings’ Bailey Peacock claiming a swag of trophies.

Peacock claimed champion player for the under-14s after averaging a brilliant 93 as he smashed 279 runs to take out the batting aggregate and average also.

Peacock also claimed 11 wickets at an average of 11 for Kings.

Devon Jefferis won the best bowling average to help Warriors go through the season undefeated and win the premiership while Lachlan Tindale (Blues) won the bowling aggregate with 15 wickets.

Teague and Ryley Valli claimed player of the carnival honours for the under-14’s and under-16’s junior country week teams respectively.

Special achievements at junior country week included Ryley Valli making a century and Angus Thompson snaring a five-wicket haul.

Teague Valli claimed the 13A team player of the carnival award while Buddy Robinson (team 13B), Toby Brown (15A) and Caleb Haua (15B) were the other award winners for their respective teams from the Bunbury carnival.

Brett Wolfe was awarded Albany Junior Cricket Association life membership for his valuable services over many years.
