Walpole author short-listed for major award

Walpole author Sarah Drummond and her debut novel The Sound, are in the running to win the International Dublin Literary Award.

She is one of nine Australian authors in the 137 writers worldwide to be short-listed after nominations.

The Sound us a historical fiction that is based on the true story of two sealing crews in Western Australia in 1825.

The prize of 100,000 euros is the world’s most valuable annual literally prize for a single work of fiction in English.

Drummond was nominated by the State Library of Western Australia.
