Wait is almost over with new Albany Aldi store to open in March

Albany’s first Aldi store is set to open its doors to customers on March 16. The German supermarket chain announced in June it would open its first store in the Great Southern at the Albany Plaza in 2022 among a roll-out of six other new stores across WA in the next two years. After originally announcing the Albany store would open in February, Aldi is gearing up to welcome customers from 8.30am on March 16. The store will be open from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, with late-night shopping until 9pm on Thursdays. It will be closed on Sundays. The new store has employed a team of 15-20 permanent full-time and part-time employees. According to Aldi, the new store features “a number of innovations” including “simple navigation, expansive wooden produce bays and a modern interior store design.” To mark the opening of the Albany outlet, Aldi Australia WA regional managing director Rebecca Eichfeld said there would be “special buys” across the store that would not be available anywhere else. Ms Eichfield said low prices were Aldi’s “fundamental point of difference”. “We offer a supermarket experience that is like no other in Australia and we are proud to call ourselves ‘Good Different’,” she said. “It’s our differences such as having never offered single-use plastic bags, utilising a coin deposit system for our trolleys and our tight product range that allow us to bring unbeatable value to our customers every day.” The Aldi Albany store also promises to donate unsold food to local food rescue organisations as part of the company’s national food donation program.
