Flinders Park Primary School students got a hands-on historical experience all about cars courtesy of the Veteran and Classic Car Club of WA on Tuesday.

Dressed in period-appropriate clothing, VCCC members lined up 22 vintage cars on the school’s oval.

The oldest car rolled off the production line in 1905 making it 119, while the “newest” model of the bunch was 113, taking to the roads in 1911.

The event was fully interactive, much to the students delight, as they were able to climb into the cars, sit behind the wheel or in the passenger seats and in some cars, even honk the horn.

Each car had a small ballot box, where students could drop a token they had been given to vote on their favourite car, with the winner being announced and receiving a small prize at a VCCC meeting in the near future.
