Venues get into cup spirit

Albany revellers will frock up in their finest to watch the race that stops the nation today.

Several venues and workplaces across the town will host lavish luncheons for the Melbourne Cup at noon.

The White Star Hotel, Due South, Six Degrees, Inswing and Three Anchors are among venues hosting events for one of the most-watched sporting events in Australia each year.

The White Star Hotel will have live coverage of the race, serving food and beverages and hosting trivia and fashion prizes. Due South will have prizes for best dressed and Melbourne Cup sweeps plus live entertainment.

Yucatan remains the favourite for the race.
