Unbeaten Lower Great Southern take home title
Lower Great Southern have won the Elders Inter League Men’s Round Robin tournament, which drew more than 100 players across six leagues to Emu Point Bowling Club last weekend.
Players from Lower Great Southern, South Central Arunga, Great Southern, Central Stirling, South East Coastal and Upper Great Southern took part in the three-day tournament.
Lower Great Southern finished on 10 points and 13 rink wins to prevail over Great Southern’s six points and 12 rinks while South East Coast were only three rinks behind Great Southern in third.
The host region went through all five matches undefeated, downing South Central Arunga, 79 shots to 68, in their first game before a comprehensive 88-62 win over Central Stirling.
In round three, Lower Great Southern had to fight for the 76-70 win over Great Southern and they remained undefeated after downing Upper Great Southern, 86-66.
Lower Great Southern sealed the Inter League title in the fifth and final round with a 99-66 display over South East Coastal.
Players from Albany, Cranbrook, Denmark, Emu Point, Frankland River, Green Range, Middleton Beach, Mt Barker, Mt Barker Golf and Walpole clubs formed the successful Lower Great Southern team, which has now won back-to-back titles.
