Polonia A and Bayswater A shared the points in a tight Great Southern Soccer Association men’s division one contest on Saturday afternoon. Only two points separated the two sides heading into their round 14 clash, and that difference remains the same after the match ended in a two-all draw. Bayswater A went ahead in the first half after netting the only goal in the opening 45 minutes before Polonia A responded in the second half. Polonia A scored two of the three goals that came in the final 45 minutes to secure a draw. Kyle Taylor and Jason Wilson found the back of the net for Polonia A while Alexandro Casilli and Cain Pietropaolo scored for Bayswater A. Caledonians A remain clear on top of the standings after a dominant first half set up an emphatic 6-1 win over Port Albany B. After netting four goals in the opening half, Caledonians A added two more in the final 45 minutes to seal the five-goal victory. Jason Bosch netted a brace in the win while Archie Smith scored Port Albany’s only goal in the first half. A 3-0 win ensured Rovers A stayed within striking distance of Caledonians, after they defeated Denmark. Rovers A produced three second half goals via Justin Bielecki, Shannon Korthuis and Sam Jackson to secure the result. In the women’s division one competition the top three sides all recorded comfortable victories on Friday night. Denmark A are clear on top of the table after two goals in each half was enough to down Rovers B. Zara Whooley, Abby Carter, Jasmin Boaden and Neve Wagner all scored for the winners. Phoenix A remain in the hunt for the league title after a resounding 4-0 victory over Phoenix B. Chelsea Dekker, Tianna Korthuis, Jacy Mostert and Ebonee Van Burgel all scored in the second half for Phoenix A. A brace from Libby Morris guided Polonia A to a 3-0 win over Caledonians B. In the men’s division two competition on Saturday, Polonia B finished 5-3 winners over Rovers B despite a hat-trick from Rovers’ Thobani Hlophe. In the women’s division two competition on Friday night, a brace from Lynette Parker helped Denmark B notch a 4-0 win over Royals B and Mt Barker B and Polonia B played out a scoreless draw. An impressive six goals from Matt Orzel powered Bayswater Social to a convincing 15-0 win against Denmark Social in the men’s social/vets competition last Tuesday. Rovers Vets won 4-2 over Baysie Masters, Australian Christian College downed Polonia Social 3-1, Cross Keys finished 2-1 victors over Grammar Social and Old Boys defeated Rovers Social 4-1 in the other games. A hat-trick from Joanne Woods pushed Bayswater to a 4-2 win over Polonia in the women’s social competition on Friday while Rovers prevailed 2-1 winners over Denmark and Sonics prevailed 2-0 over Grammar.
