Twenty20 rivals target semifinals
Collingwood Park and North County will be aiming to stay in contention for the semifinal stage of the Albany Cricket Association Merrifield Real Estate Twenty20 competition when they clash first up in round 3 this Saturday.
Both clubs failed to win a match in their opening two encounters of the revamped competition with the loser of their clash to face an uphill battle to reach the top four.
Park could only produce efforts of 63 and 103 with the bat last Saturday with no batsman reaching 25 in their two matches while the Bulldogs leaked scores of 171 and 151.
Manypeaks can take a significant step to qualifying for the semifinal stage of the competition if they can defeat Mt Barker at Turf West.
Peaks won both of their matches chasing low targets in the first two rounds but will come up against the express Jacob Wintle, who ripped through Park in an inspired spell of pace bowling.
The Bulls and Railways each sit on one win from their sole game last Saturday and can also move towards the semifinals if they can record two wins.
Royals and Denmark also sit on one win in a ladder logjam to begin the competition with net run rate expected to play a major part in deciding the semifinalists.
The competition finals day will be played on Sunday, December 10, with cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100 to be awarded to the winning club in each grade.
