Truck crash leads to diesel spill

Police say it is yet to be determined how a diesel truck lost control and crashed on Chester Pass Road causing a significant diesel spill overnight.

Approximately 300L of diesel spilled onto Chester Pass Road after the truck veered and jack-knifed causing a puncture of the fuel tanks and the prime mover to block both directions of the road.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services, St John Ambulance and police attended the crash after 1am.

The road was blocked in both directions from Menang Drive to Henry Street until after midday today when it re-opened with speed restrictions of 60km/h.

Albany police Sergeant Derek Grimes said a passenger in the truck received medical attention for minor injuries and it was yet to be investigated what caused the crash.
