Timm House kicks 10 goals to cap stellar homecoming for Gnowangerup in OFA premiership

Hometown hero Timm House says he lived out a childhood dream after his wonderful 10-goal grand final performance guided Gnowangerup to premiership euphoria in the Ongerup Football Association on Saturday. After spending five years in Victoria, House moved home to his family farm, Barloo Stud, this year and is now the talk of the town after booting 10 second half goals to help the Bulldogs run away with the OFA spoils by 55 points over Boxwood Hill in the decider at Gnowangerup. The 25-year-old spent three season on Geelong’s list but never played an AFL game. Playing as a key forward House had a single point to his name at half-time before he produced a remarkable last half to emerge as the hero. His 10th goal came after the final siren and he was immediately swamped by teammates as the premiership celebrations began. A self-confessed proud country kid, House said winning a premiership in his hometown was a moment he will cherish forever. “It’s pretty special to come home in my first year and win a premiership at the club I played juniors with,” House said. “I’m just glad I could play my role for the team on the day. “Having played juniors at Gnowangerup I always wanted to play senior footy here and to play my first senior game here this season was a special moment, it was something I always wanted to do. “I lived out a childhood dream this year playing senior footy for my home club and the premiership was a bonus. “It’s a great group of blokes to play footy with and the community is just so amazing, it made moving home a lot easy.” He played alongside younger brother Fraser House while close friends Sam Vincent and Campbell Floyd came over from Victoria and worked at Barloo Stud along with Quillan Pritchard, the five workmates all sharing in the grand final victory. House was selected with pick 68 in the 2016 AFL draft and booted 26 goals in 44 VFL games but never cracked an AFL game. He said the feeling on the final siren was very special. “The feeling close to the final siren was close to the feeling I had when I got drafted,” he said. “It was a great feeling, I wish I could’ve bottled up that feeling and kept it close to me. “To kick my 10th goal after the final siren was very special, I turned around to find someone to hug and I had about 15 blokes jumping on top of me. “I was feeling alright at half-time, my quieter first half motivated me to play better in the second half. “We weren’t playing badly in the first half we just weren’t capitalising. “It’s a great vibe in town the grand final showed the strength of the community and everyone played their role, the footballers had the easy job on the day. “The celebrations were fantastic, everyone enjoyed each other’s company down at pub on Sunday.”
