The Department of Fire and Emergency Services have issued a thunderstorm warning for this afternoon in the Great Southern, South West and the Lower West.

A low off the west coast will result in thunderstorms over a large area of lower WA from midday today onwards.

Expect the storms to bring damaging winds, heavy rain and potentially flash flooding.

DFES advice people to find shelter away from trees and powerlines and unplug electrical appliances.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed and be alert for potential hazards, such as rain, water and debris.
