Three Roy Rogers gallopers to contest Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy and Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic

Albany trainer Roy Rogers says he will be rapt if his two chances finish in the top five of the $200,000 Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy (1200m) at Pinjarra Park on Saturday. Rogers has three runners entered across the two rich Magic Millions feature races. Consistent types Heavenly Waters and Acefire will represent his stable in the three-year-old feature while Ciao Luna will contest the $250,000 Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (1200m). Rogers ran second in the two-year-old event last year with Heavenly Waters, and Island Charm finished second in the three-year-old feature, giving his stable confidence they can again compete with the best juveniles in the State. He believes Acefire is his best chance to deliver a maiden Magic Millions victory. “It’s a bit tricky to know which one is my best chance,” Rogers said. “If I had to lean towards one, it would be Acefire. “I would be rapt if the two three-year-olds ran in the top five. “This is why we go to sales to get some nice juveniles and aim them for these sort of races because they don’t come around often. “You always try and get some horses set for these races. “The two-year-old, it will be a bit tough for her, but it will be good to see her run a nice race but Heavenly Waters and Acefire will be very competitive.” Acefire won back-to-back races at Belmont in November before running last in the listed Lee Steere Classic prior to a spell. The Ready For Victory gelding has won twice in seven career starts and also had three minor placings and has top jockey Brad Rawiller engaged, jumping from barrier six with 56.5kg. Heavenly Waters will be looking to go one better than last year and will be ridden by Steven Parnham from barrier seven with 54.5kg. The Headwater filly has won twice this preparation but finished 11th in last month’s Fitzpatrick Plate. “Heavenly Waters ran second in the two-year-old race last year so it will be highly competitive,” Rogers said. “Acefire will also be very competitive and has won back-to-back races so it has shown it’s capable. “There are a lot of local owners in the two, three-year-olds, so it would be great for them to win.” Ciao Luna will jump from barrier eight with 54.5kg for Jade McNaught in the two-year-old feature. There will be two Albany gallopers in the $100,000 Pinjarra Park Mile (1600m) on Saturday, with The Spruiker from the Steve Wolfe stable and the Rogers-prepared Luke’s Gold entered.
