Whaling Cove had a very special guest sharing the water this morning. A three-meter great white shark was photographed sunbathing in the Great Southern sunshine and was reported on shark smart just before 10 o’clock this morning. The shark was sighted by fisherman Gavin Jackman 200 meters offshore who described the shark as very interested in the vessel but not aggressive. Albany receivers also picked up a tagged Great White Shark in Frenchman Bay twice yesterday morning and Ellen Cove three times just before sunset last night. A spokesperson from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development said that they could not confirm whether the shark sighted today was the same one detected by Albany’s shark monitoring receivers yesterday. Shark sightings can be reported to water police - 9442 8600. You can keep up to date with shark sightings and alerts at the Shark Smart website.
