Theft sours club’s premiership celebrations

Albany Advertiser

Gnowangerup police hope a guilty conscious will lead to the return of sentimental items stolen from the team bus as the Gnowangerup Football Club celebrated their premiership on Saturday night.

Jayden Scott was judged best on ground in Gnowangerup’s grand final win over Boxwood Hill on Saturday but his bag which included the best on ground trophy, Pulsar watch and centenary guernsey were stolen from the team bus.

The team’s bus was parked outside the Gnowangerup Hotel as celebrations kicked into gear when the theft occurred according to police.

Gnowangerup police Sergeant Tracey Keown described the theft of the sentimental items and the club’s iPad which was also in the bus as “opportunistic”.

“The bag was stolen from the bus but was recovered but the sentimental items were taken,” she said.

“We are hoping someone with a conscious will come forward.”

Sgt Keown said anyone with information was urged to call Gnowangerup police on 9827 2800.
