The last of Holden’s brand in Albany to go under the hammer to raise funds for Albany Community Hospice

The removal of the iconic Holden brand from a local car dealership will be used as a way to raise important funds for the Albany Community Hospice. General Motors announced in 2020 that they were retiring the Holden brand and now Albany City Motors is hoping the community can dig into their pockets to support the ACH. All funds raised from the auction of Holden signs and merchandise will go to the ACH. The auction will be held on April 3 from 9am at Albany City Motors showroom floor. ACM dealership director Scott Leary said that he had been approached by several Holden collectors who were “ready to take stuff away on the spot”. He decided to sell the items through an auction to benefit the Albany Community Hospice. “I’ve had friends go through the hospice, and it’s just a quality establishment,” he said. “There’s a lot of good charities around, but I know that they sort of need the support to keep that facility running.” Although his business has the license to continue selling Holden parts and servicing vehicles, Mr Leary said the auction may be the last chance for locals to see the iconic signage. “I think because the Holden brand is such an iconic Australian thing, it sort of deserved a bit of a send off, given that it’s the last that we’ll see of it in Albany,” “But from a vehicle point of view its all gone. “And there’s obviously some collectors out there who appreciate the value attached to it as well.” Items that will be auctioned include brand new Holden flags and the large signs that were displayed on the dealership building.
