Teens charged after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes in service station break-in

Two 16-year-old boys allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes after breaking into a service station in the early hours of the morning. Police say the offenders stole nearly $7000 worth of cigarettes and tobacco products, along with confectionery, after smashing a rear window to gain entry to 86 on South on South Coast Highway about 1.25am on Tuesday, June 15. The teenagers allegedly escaped with the stolen goods after an unsuccessful attempt to get into the service station’s pay tills. Police executed a search warrant later that day and charged a 16-year-old Lockyer boy with aggravated burglary and stealing. Officers say they recovered about $2500 of the stolen tobacco products and confectionery in the search. They also charged a 40-year-old Lockyer man with receiving stolen goods. The next day, a 16-year-old Mira Mar boy was charged with aggravated burglary and stealing in relation to the incident. Colin Park, owner of 86 on South, said he had put up a financial reward to encourage people to come forward with information. “At a minimum, they stole $6500-$7000 in cigarettes,” Mr Park said. “They stole cigarettes and lollies, and they tried to get into the tills, but they didn’t know how to get into them. “I put up a $100 reward for anyone to come forward with information and a few people came in.
