Swimmers will dive headfirst into the MSWA swim tomorrow, raising funds and awareness for people living with neurological conditions.

Teams will put on their swimming caps and goggles for the annual MSWA Albany Swim, held at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

Swimming in this year’s event is MSWA ambassador Denise Amato, who said she could not wait to hit the water and swim with her team, the Bathroom Decor Bobbers.

Living with multiple sclerosis, she knows first-hand how MSWA supports people with MS and all neurological conditions.

“The swim is fantastic. It’s all about raising awareness and money for a great cause,” she said.

“I have been living with MS for the past eight years. “It’s changed my life quite considerably and I think the experience is different for everyone.

“I kept my diagnosis very quiet but this year I decided to go public so I could raise funds and awareness. MSWA have been amazing so this year I really wanted to take part and give back.”

Mrs Amato said she had received a lot of support from MSWA.

“The support they gave me helps me live a normal life and supports me to be the best I can be rather than be a victim of this illness,” she said.

“I have benefited hugely and wanted to give back and the funds are staying in the Great Southern — that’s really important to me.”
