Take steps towards unlocking dementia

Saskia AdystiAlbany Advertiser

Alzheimer’s WA is hosting its inaugural Albany Walk to Remember on Sunday and would like to invite the local community to join the event.

Albany Walk to Remember is a 4km-8km walk around Middleton Beach and is dedicated to current or past family members with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

All money raised during the event will go towards supporting and improving the lives of those on their dementia journey.

Albany resident Colleen Smith will join the walk on Sunday with husband Lindsay Smith, who has been diagnosed with dementia from a brain tumour almost four years ago.

“It’s a good event to bring awareness and raise a bit of money,” she said.

“It also helps the older people to get out for a walk.

“He is pretty fit — he is probably going to do more walking than me this Sunday.”

Event registration is from 7.30am on Sunday, with the walk starting at 9am.
