TAFE title to Albany student

Albany’s Rebecca Wilson has taken out the prestigious title of South Regional TAFE Student of the Year in a field of of more than 10,000 students.

The 29-year-old studied a Certificate III in acute care health services at the Albany campus in 2019.

She had already been named Rotary Club of Albany City’s Student of the Year for the Great Southern.

Last week, she took out South Regional TAFE’s highest honour, chosen from the college’s 12 campuses in the south of the State. Ms Wilson said she was excited to take what she had learnt and apply it in the workforce.

“Hopefully I can continue furthering my knowledge and experience working towards my goal of being a flight nurse for RFDS,” she said. “Now, more than ever, it’s great to be working towards a career that is so valuable and in need. I only wish I could do more at this current time of need.

“Learning throughout this pandemic is an amazing experience, it really makes you take in the importance of everything we are taught as students.”

Nominated by her lecturer, she was chosen for her outstanding results and drive to achieve, combined with humanity and enthusiasm.

“She is warm and empathetic and quickly gains the trust and respect of others,” her nomination said. “She will be an excellent nurse.”
