Suns of Sound to play community concert For the Youth organised by Mt Lockyer Community Group this Friday

A community concert for young people will take place this Friday featuring local band Suns of Sound as part of an ongoing initiative of positive community events.

The For the Youth concert will be held at the Beryl Grant Community Centre from 7pm on Friday and feature a performance by local band Suns of Sound.

The alcohol-free night is aimed at anyone aged 15 years and older with entry costing $5 and a raffle held on the night.

Mt Lockyer Community and Friends Group president Michael Head said the group were holding the concerts once a month as an addition to their usual country music nights.

Mr Head said the Suns of Sound event this week was part of a new initiative to get young people more involved in the community.

“For the young people, it’s just to get them off the streets and give them something to do, to try and get the younger folk together and involved in activities in the community,” he said.

The band, consisting of Jackson Brown and Jake Merlin, play an mix of songs across a range of genres from acoustic, reggae, indie, folk, funk, soul, pop, RnB and Hip-Hop.
