Storm warning for Great Southern

After a taste of summer at the weekend, severe thunderstorms are brewing for parts of the Great Southern.

A weather warning has been issued for parts of the Goldfields-Midlands and Great Southern districts for this evening.

Locations which may be affected include Merredin, Bruce Rock, Hyden, Koolyanobbing, Lake King, Mukinbudin and Southern Cross.

Around 2pm the Bureau of Meteorology advised that satellite imagery showed a line of thunderstorms east of Ravensthorpe moving towards the southeast.

Further storms are expected to develop through the eastern parts of the South West this afternoon.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.
