Steve Wolfe continues white-hot form after saddling up first four winners on seven-race program in Albany

Albany trainer Steve Wolfe had a brilliant day, winning the first four races at Percy Spencer Racecourse on Friday. The veteran trainer delivered the first four winners on the seven-race program at Albany Racing Club and also had four minor placings on a dominant day for his stable. Promising three-year-olds Millivoy and Knot Secret won the opening two races, while consistent gallopers Classic Rogue and Worth A Risk gave Wolfe a remarkable start to the program. Wolfe has started the Great Southern season on fire, with eight winners across the first three meetings. “Last year we were firing in Perth and were concentrating on that more,” he said. “We didn’t really have the horses down here to be doing what we have usually done. “But we have a big team in work now and some nice types for down here. “It’s nice to get back to our home track and have some success. “I’m quite happy with the result on Friday. “We are going along all right and hopefully we can keep our good form up.” At his fifth career start, Millivoy broke his maiden status in impressive fashion for jockey Natasha Faithfull. The I’m All The Talk gelding sat just behind the leaders and laid inwards in the home straight, downing the favourite Shake Baby Shake by a length. After two placings in Perth, Knot Secret returned to his home track and jumped a $2 favourite, scoring a tough long neck victory in the Ryde Building Company Maiden (1500m). Knot Secret settled midfield for jockey Peter Knuckey and went stride for stride with Acting God in the straight before getting the upper hand in the final 100m. In-form galloper Classic Rogue also enjoyed returning to Albany and edged out Chiclett by a head, and stablemate Oxbridge was a short head away in third to hand Wolfe his third straight winner. Worth A Risk made it three wins in a row in Albany as Knuckey steered her to a half-head victory in the ABA Security Electrical Handicap (1500m) over Miracle Man. “Millivoy is a work in progress — we are still trying to work a few things out but he looks promising,” Wolfe said. “Knot Secret is an up-and-comer and nice type. “Classic Rogue would have been unlucky to not win. “Worth A Risk is turning into a serious horse and has been a bonus to the stable. Whenever they win three in a row they are a pretty nice horse.” Bunbury trainer Steven Burton ended Wolfe’s streak after winning race five with Medellin, and the result also handed Faithfull a double. Blue Line made it two wins from three starts in WA for Samantha Faithfull after winning the Albany Scaffold Hire Handicap (1100m), while a drop back in class proved the key to Cockyjoy returning to the winners’ circle for the first time in 279 days for James Grieve and Mitchell Pateman in the final race. Apprentice Rosie Mahony was dislodged in the final race from Combat Ready, and a stewards’ inquiry into this incident was opened and then adjourned.
