A popular spiral slide has made its way back home to a Katanning playground.

Katanning’s All Ages Playground received its refurbished giant play equipment last Thursday as part of a $15 million Katanning Heritage Centre project.

The renovated equipment now features added safety elements and colourful paintwork.

The playground has been a drawcard for families from Katanning and surrounding districts for decades.

Shire President Liz Guidera said many members of the Great Southern community had cherished childhood memories of the playground.

They can now share the fun with the next generation.

“We are thrilled that many of the old slide decks have been upgraded and are featured in the new playground,” she said.

The KHC project will take place in three parts. Part one will include the revamp of the All Ages Playground and kid’s playground. Part two includes the enhancement of the Skate Park and Lion’s Park. Playground work is expected to be completed by the end of July.
