Southern Beef will host a field walk to share the results of its cut spring pasture variety site.

It follows a field walk in August before the pasture site was grazed by cattle.

Organiser Sheena Smith said that after the first walk pasture cuts were taken before silage and again last week.

“The site was sown into varieties of oats, rye-grass and mixed species,” she said.

“Throughout the season the site has been under normal farm management practises to be harvested into silage.

“Now, with the recent rain, this is an opportunity to come and have a look and get the pre-silage cut results.”

She said the results had been good so far.

“James Bee from Elders will be on hand to talk producers through the plot’s performance,” she said.

“This is an opportunity to look, see and ask questions for what may fit into producers’ programs for 2021.”

The walk will take place at Clover Downs at 35895 Albany Highway.
