Southern Aboriginal Corporation CEO Asha Bhat OAM adds two more awards to her belt for community service

Southern Aboriginal Corporation chief executive officer Asha Bhat OAM has added another two prestigious awards to her belt in recognition of her leadership and community impact. Ms Bhat was awarded the community services excellence award at the India Australia Business and Community Alliance Awards in Canberra, and the Gold Medal in the non-profit excellence category at the AusMumpreneur Awards in Melbourne. Ms Bhat was previously inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame in 2023 and received an Order of Australia Medal in 2022. She said the awards were the result of a “collective effort” by the Southern Aboriginal Corporation team to the community. “This award is a testament to the belief that non-profit organisations should be run with the same strategic thinking and efficiency as any business,” Ms Bhat said. “It’s crucial for people to understand that non-profits can, and should, operate with business-like efficiency to achieve meaningful social outcomes. “They reaffirm that our approach — combining business principles with a deep commitment to social justice — is not only viable but essential. “We strive to create lasting change and demonstrate that non-profits can be powerful forces for good when led with innovation, compassion and a strategic vision.”
