South West completed a hat-trick of WA Country Interzone Round Robin Championship titles, prevailing in a thrilling final day at Emu Point Bowling Club at the weekend.

It took the final end in the last game to decide the winner, with South Western edging ahead of Eastern to claim the title by five shots in the annual tournament showcasing the best country bowlers in WA.

The home Southern Zone team stayed in the hunt heading into the second day of competition on Sunday when they defeated South West, and sit with a 1-1 win-loss record after falling to Eastern Zone.

They rounded out the tournament with an 89 shots to 86 (two rinks) win over Northern Zone before the title was decided in the South West and Eastern Zone battle.

Southern’s John Sharp was named in the Country All-Stars after a consistent weekend.

Next year’s Interzone Championships will be held in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
