Great Southern farmer Mitchell Thomson proposal entire paddock with ‘will you marry me’ in ultimate proposal

A Great Southern woman described her partner’s epic proposal using a drone and a big empty paddock as ‘the most special thing’ anyone has ever done. Sharnee Weaver thought her now-fiance Mitchell Thomson was testing a drone on their South Stirlings farm when she discovered he had patterned the paddock with the words “will you marry me”. Surrounded by their family, Ms Weaver said she did not suspect anything when her partner insisted she fly the drone herself. “He kept trying to get me to fly it but I didn’t want to, but then I said ‘OK’ and I saw the letters,” Ms Weaver said. “It was pretty special, it was just undescribable and I was very overwhelmed with happiness and it was probably the most special thing that anyone’s ever done for me. “I didn’t suspect anything because he always tells me to do things over and over again until I do it. “When I turned the drone towards the letters, he then got down on one knee, but I didn’t realise what the words actually said. “So I saw him get down on one knee first, and then I had to reread the drone and I was in so much shock.” Mr Thomson used his farming computer equipment to draw out the words on one of his paddocks before spending hours spraying the area to kill the grass. Ms Weaver said she was looking forward to spending the next few months with her partner and their three-month-old girl Leyla before the arduous task of planning a wedding around farming seasons. “We’re just enjoying the engagement at the moment but we are sort of planning the wedding,” she said. “Trying to pick a date is going to be the hardest part because you have to work around harvest and seeding and all sorts of fun things.”
