SOCIAL PHOTOS: Purple plea for acceptance of all genders and sexuality

Purple chalk on the sidewalk outside headspace Albany on Friday spread a very important message about acceptance. The Wear it Purple event celebrated people of all genders and sexuality, calling or acceptance of all. Headspace Albany manager Andrew Wenzel said they wanted to take the event to the streets to bring it to people’s attention. “Wear it Purple is a campaign that is run nationwide and grew out of schools, giving an opportunity for people to wear purple to acknowledge that they support people of diverse gender and sexuality,” he said. “For young people who are working out who they are and who they are attracted to, feeling that if they aren’t what is deemed normal, there is stigma associated with that. “This is about putting on some purple and saying it doesn’t matter who you are, we support you and you are a person, who regardless of who you are has the right to feel like you belong and that you are part of society.”
