Sixth straight victory for Redbacks in Albany Junior Cricket Association on the back of easy win over Kings

A polished batting performance ensured Redbacks remain undefeated in the Albany Junior Cricket Association under-14s competition against Kings on Saturday morning. Redbacks cruised to a 96-run victory on Turf East in round six to notch up their sixth straight victory. After setting an imposing total of 200-plus batting first, Redbacks held their nerve with the ball to restrict their opponents in the chase. Redbacks opener Rory Sutherland made a quick-fire 35 whacking five boundaries before he was dismissed at 2-57. Rowan Webster and Philip Moody (17) took their side towards triple figures with a 42-run partnership. Webster retired not out on 22 and Oliver Douglas was the next man removed but his side were in a strong position at 4-127. Reiley Allison (20no) and Fergus Wright (17no) both retired before Regan Christensen finished off the innings with an unbeaten knock of 38 from 27 balls, which included five fours and a six, as their side posted 4-204 from their 35 overs. Kings got off to a shaky start in the run chase, falling to 4-25 early on. Hugh Beaton, Kai Harvey and Tom Witham all retired not out as their side didn’t lose their next wicket until Tom Robertson fell with his side on 83. Robertson’s dismissal sparked a collapse as they lost 4-15 and fell behind the required run rate. Beaton came back in and was unbeaten on 22 while Witham made 10 but their side could only manage 8-108. Christensen finished with 2-7 and Heath Caldwell snared 2-10 to help keep their side undefeated. Warriors won their fourth game of the season after chasing down Mt Barker’s total at Sounness Park to prevail by six wickets. Mt Barker made 6-90 batting first with Axle Pearce top scoring with 17 not out and Jack Heffernan-Backshell also added 17 but Jacobus Swart (2-6) and Buddy Robinson (2-8) did the damage with the ball. Robinson posted 41 before retiring while Davey Wignall (22 runs), Cooper Edwards (20) also retired and Charlie Anning finished unbeaten on 24 as their side posted 4-187. Blues jumped into third on the ladder after finishing four-run winners over Denmark at Turf South. Max Osborne (19) and Ryan Hams (11 not out) helped Blues post 129 batting first while Lochie Otway (2-8), Tylan Menary (2-10) and Teo Forman (2-17) took multiple wickets for Denmark. In reply, Denmark ran out of overs, falling just short on 7-125 as Ryan Hick retired not out on 31 and Jake Schwarzbach added 15 but they fell just short.
