Six to play club T20 tournament
A break from the regular 50-over fixtures in the Albany and Districts Cricket Association will pave the way for a club-based Twenty20 competition to be played over the Labour Day weekend.
This six-team T20 tournament will be the second time the shortened format has been run by the ADCA after their highly successful franchise-based Southern Smash was played in December.
Games this weekend will be played on Saturday and Sunday, featuring five A-grade clubs and Narrikup.
Narrikup have been the trendsetters in local B-grade cricket for the past couple of seasons and will take the step up to face Railways and Collingwood Park in their two qualifying matches.
Manypeaks, Royals and Denmark will also field teams, with Mt Barker the only A-grade outfit not taking part.
Each team will play two matches on Saturday, before the top two will meet in Sunday’s grand final at 2pm with the winner netting $400 and runner-up taking home $150.
Railways won the last club-based T20 title played in 2017-18.
