For Denmark’s Fraser Richardson, the Six Degrees Drive For MND fundraiser is personal.

His in-law, Neale France, was diagnosed with the degenerative disease in October last year.

As the music co-ordinator at Six Degrees, Mr Richardson hopes the community will come together this Friday night to raise money and awareness of motor neurone disease.

“This one hits home for us,” he said.

“It’s the worst disease personally I’ve come across.”

The charity fundraiser will feature 10 bands and a charity auction to support people living with MND and working to find a cure.

Former West Coast Eagles star Matt Priddis will be there, with a piece of memorabilia signed by all WA Brownlow medallists up for auction on the night.

All money raised and $15 from every ticket bought will go towards WA charity Care Cure Support, which aims to help uncover what causes MND and eventually find a cure.

Neale’s wife Carla said her family’s lives had “changed forever”.

“MND is the cruellest, most torturous of diseases that steals everything from the sufferer and their loved ones slowly but surely,” she said.

“As I walk alongside my beautiful husband during this journey I am humbled by his ability to still see the best in life, even through so much loss and suffering.

“Our greatest wish is that one day a cure will be found for this vile beast of a disease and no other family will ever have to suffer again.”

The local musicians providing live music for the night include Dig The Dust, The Morsels, The Albany Shantymen, King Brown The 1st, Rotten Apple, Wade Morrison, Geoff Waldeck, Phoebe Herbert, Terry Mackintosh and Toni-Maree.

Doors open at 5.30pm on Friday, with music starting at 6pm.
