Albany will be awash with rainbow flags and festivities once again for Pride Week, which begins on Friday.

Launching at Liberte, the jam-packed week of events will include drag shows, drag bingo, a family-friendly fair day and a dog show at the Albany Town Square.

This year will also feature new events, including a games night, a movie at the library and make-up tutorial with Perth drag queen Ruby Jewelz where you can learn new skills while sipping champagne.

Albany Pride co-ordinator Annie Arnold said this year’s event would be bigger than ever and encouraged the community to get involved.

“You don’t have to identify as LGBTIQA+ to come along, in fact we are really hoping to get our straight friends, colleagues and families to come out and join in with us,” she said.

“When we are all standing together, we are a stronger community.

“It would be great to see the whole community engaged during pride, to come out and have some fun and show you support us.”

Ms Arnold said Pride WA, Lotterywest and the Albany Community Branch Bendigo Bank were the sponsors of Pride Week.

“We are also co-hosting some events this year with the City of Albany and Elandrial Games, so it’s great to see the community is starting get on board and join us in making Albany Pride the biggest regional pride in WA and arguably one of the biggest in regional Australia.”
