Share the road safely calls truck drivers

The importance of sharing the roads is being reinforced in a new safety campaign by the Road Safety Commission with the support of WA truck drivers.

The video campaign ‘Tips from Truckies’ has received more than 50,000 views in the lead up to the Labour Day long weekend.

The Road Safety Commission, who teamed up with the WA Road Transport Association, hope the campaign message will help prevent a repeat of the tragic holiday period last weekend when 11 people lost their lives.

“Many road users spend the majority of their time in the metro area and don’t interact with heavy vehicles very often,” said Mr Papalia. “It can be intimidating, so it is extremely valuable to have this engagement with truck drivers, and listen to their observations and advice, as we head into a long weekend with high volumes of traffic on the road.”
