Albany crash: Man rushed to hospital with critical injuries after crash on Sand Patch Road

A 26-year-old man was rushed to hospital with critical injuries after a crash near Albany late on Friday night. Paramedics were called out to Sand Patch Road in Torndirrup at 10.52pm, where a silver Holden Commodore had left the road and crashed into bushes. A police spokesman said the Holden Commodore was being driven in a north-easterly direction on Sand Patch Road when it crashed about 900m from the intersection of Princess Drive. The sole occupant of the vehicle — a man from the Albany area — suffered critical injuries, according to a St John WA spokeswoman. Career and volunteer firefighters from Albany used the Jaws of Life to free him from the vehicle. He was taken to Albany Health Campus under priority, arriving at the hospital just before midnight. Major Crash Squad officers are investigating the crash and would like to speak to anyone who has information or saw the vehicle before the crash.
