Saints march home to a dominant 58-point win over the Bulls in second round of junior footy action

The Saints recorded their first victory of the season in round two of the Southern Districts Junior Football Association under-14s competition, as they marched home 58-point winners against the Bulls on Friday. The margin was 31 points at the main break but the fast and exciting Saints side finished strongly, mounting the pressure on their opponents. A powerful five-goal fourth quarter guided the Saints home to open their season with a win, 11.6 (72) to 2.2 (14), against the Bulls. Saints’ James Taylor and Bailin Curtis both booted three majors in the win while Charlie Leverington (two goals), Mitchell Turner (one goal), Weylan Lee (one goal) and Toby Camp (one goal) rounded out the rest of the goal kickers. The Eagles are still undefeated in their campaign after their solid 36-point victory over the Lions. Despite a final term fightback from the Lions in which they outscored their opponents three goals to one, they were left to lament their flat first half, going down 4.7 (31) to 10.7 (67). Eagles’ Robert Farmer was the star of the show, kicking nine goals in the win while Blake Cekerevac snagged two majors for the Lions. Meanwhile, the Magpies won a tense three-point match against the Swans, kicking a late fourth-quarter goal to snatch victory. The Swans trailed by 13 points at half-time and rallied late to give the Magpies a scare, but the Magpies held on to win 4.7 (31) to 3.10 (28).
