Rylee Davis nets big 50-goal haul as Narrikup 2 remain unbeaten in the Albany Netball Association A1 comp

An outstanding shooting display from Rylee Davis ensured Narrikup 2’s golden start to the 2021 Albany Netball Association A1 season continued on Saturday. After moving up from A2, Narrikup 2 have won their opening four games this season and sit on top of the ladder by percentage. Davis shot a superb 50 goals from 57 attempts as her side downed Grammar Griffins 1 by 16 goals in round four. The star shooter scored 14 goals in the first quarter to help Narrikup charge ahead by six at the first break after Grammar led 4-1 early on. Narrikup pushed the margin to double figures midway through the second quarter but Grammar wouldn’t go away and trailed 25-32 at half-time. The third term was a decisive one for Narrikup as they missed only one attempt on goal, outscoring Griffins 16 goals to 10 to take a 13-goal buffer into the final quarter. Davis finished off in fine style hitting 12 final-term goals as her side ran out comfortable 62-46 winners. It was a remarkable performance from Davis who added 12 goals in the second term and by half time had netted 26 of her team’s 32 goals. Davis shot at 87 per cent efficiency and was the difference while Daisy McLennan hit 12 goals from 18 attempts and Sophie Blackett also impressed in defence. Magpies 1 also remain undefeated after finishing emphatic 44-26 winners over Bullets 1. After leading by six goals at half-time, Magpies found another gear in the second half. They outscored Bullets by five in the third stanza to stretch the margin to 11 before finishing 18-goal winners at the final whistle. A powerful final term helped Railways 1 pinch a draw with Royals Saints 1. Royals Saints led by five at quarter-time and extended their lead to 28-22 at the main change. After an even third stanza, Railways outscored Royals Saints by six in the final term to secure the 46-all draw. Narrikup 1 and Kangas 1 will play their game tonight.
