Runners locked away for Albany slot race The Bluff Knoll as Beau Zoom fills Peters Investments spot

Rejuvenated sprinter Beau Zoom is the final horse to be confirmed for this Sunday’s lucrative Albany slot race The Bluff Knoll (1099m). Peters Investments locked in the 13th and final runner in the WA’s richest country race at Percy Spencer Racecouse, electing to go for the locally trained Beau Zoom. Beau Zoom, now in the stables of Rebecca Bayliss, finished second in recent Great Southern features the Fitzpatrick Plate and Mt Barker Sprint. The final field is now set for the race that boasts $357,060 in prizemoney, with weights and barriers released on Monday. Talented sprinter Snowdome will carry 58.5kg as top weight for trainer Neville Parnham, racing in the Go Charlie syndicate headed by local businessman Barry Panizza. Snowdome won the Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes before running 13th in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes and will start from barrier four in The Bluff Knoll. The highly-fancied Oscar’s Fortune drew ideally in gate three for trainer Dion Luciani. The Winterbottom Stakes runner-up and winner at four of six career starts was the replacement for slot holder Two Fillies Stud, who initially had locked in My Bella Mae. The Steve Wolfe stable will have a two-pronged attack on the inaugural The Bluff Knoll, with Red Can Man and Beads each starting. Pelicans Albany and Renny Gardiner secured Wolfe’s stable star Red Can Man for their slot while the SJ Wolfe Racing slot will be taken by rising star Beads. Red Can Man’s hopes were dealt a blow, drawing barrier 10, and jockey Joseph Azzopardi will have to carry 56.5kg in the big race. Albany jockey Natasha Faithfull will be riding in her big hometown race, securing the sit on Beads who has 55kg and gate six to contend with. With the withdrawal of Resortman, Inswing Sports Bar have locked in Some Sort as their new runner. Some Sort is now trained by Chris and Michael Gangemi, who will also have Thomas Magnum in the race. Thomas Magnum will take the Gangemi Racing slot and will be ridden by Clint Johnston-Porter from barrier nine. Jordan Turner will be aboard Some Sort from gate eight. Morton Racing have locked in Salon Bar for their slot, the progressive Daniel Morton-trained gelding having won impressively at Ascot at his most recent start. RAM Racing Syndicate, who won the inaugural $4m The Quokka at Ascot and went in the $20m The Everest with Overpass, will have Gemma’s Son in their slot. Gemma’s Son was second in the listed Miss Andretti Stakes in January for trainer David Harrison and is now in the care of Embroja-Lee Altieri. Jarrad Noske has been engaged to ride Acromantula, who has 57.5kg for co-trainers Daniel and Ben Pearce. Other runners in the race will be Songaa trained by Mitchell Pateman, Strathmore Rose from the Albany yard of Roy Rogers and Luke Fernie’s Laced Up Heels. Laced Up Heels, who will run for Delta Agribusiness, will have 54.5kg while Oscar’s Fortune is the only horse on the minimum with 54kg.
