The influx of visitors to the Great Southern region has also brought more rubbish to local beaches.

Thousands of visitors flocked to the region this long weekend bringing a boost to the region’s economy but rubbish, particularly plastic, can devastate local wildlife.

Major traffic backlogs were causing delays on Albany Highway this afternoon as holiday makers made their way home to Perth.
